What is CranioSacral Therapy?

In March of 2003 Karen was guided to take a class in CranioSacral Therapy. She fell in love with the work and took CST2 a few months later. It forever changed the way she interacts with the body by waking up her ability to sense the subtle energies of the body.

In 2006 she took SomatoEmotional Release 1 which opened her up even further. Motherhood was her main focus for a while, but by May of 2017 she was able to take SomatoEmotional Release 2. The SER work helps to release the emotional hold ups in our physical bodies. In May of 2018 she took a class on Unwinding Meridians: Applying Acupuncture Principles to CST to gain a better understanding of the Meridian system and to further finesse her work in the subtle energy field. In February of 2020 Karen took The Brain Speaks which deepened her connection with these finer subtleties and nuances within the connective tissue and brain within the skull. This modality is the undercurrent to all of her sessions and she loves integrating its gentle power.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance. By tuning into the CranioSacral rhythm (the ebb and flow of the cerebrospinal fluid which is palpable anywhere on the body) the practitioner can help aid in balancing the body. This modality was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger over 30 years ago.  Using a soft touch which is generally no greater than 5 grams – about the weight of a nickel – practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it''s effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.
